Gen AI Collaboration Between Amdocs & NVIDIA

Amdocs and NVIDIA are working together to forge a Gen AI collaboration to reshape the telecom sector and redefines industry standards

Amdocs has shared its latest business advancements in its adoption of Gen AI, featuring a collaboration with NVIDIA. This has led to progress towards true carrier-scale production imperatives ranging from latency to token consumption.

Amdocs is a company that specialises in software and services for communications, media and financial services providers and digital enterprises. Headquartered in the United States, the service provider has a global presence and is now working on expanding its existing partnerships within the mobile and telecommunications sectors to enhance network and digital transformations. In November 2023, the company recorded a fiscal revenue of US$4.89bn, which is up 6.8% YoY and has an expectation of a 2024 revenue growth of 1-5% YoY.

Transforming customer experiences with Gen AI

Amdocs has worked closely with NVIDIA to integrate NVIDIA’s full-stack AI foundry service with Amdocs’ Gen AI platform, amAIz. The collaboration has focused on harnessing Gen AI to transform customer experiences and deliver operational efficiencies.

Together, the collaborative work has achieved:

  • Amdocs’ telecom retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) on NVIDIA infrastructure has enabled the reduction of tokens consumed for deployed use cases by 60% in data pre-processing and 40% in inferencing.
  • The collaboration has reduced query latency by 80%, ensuring end users experience near real-time responses.
  • The engagement has also delivered noteworthy increases in the accuracy of AI-generated responses, improving the accuracy of responses by up to 30%.

The news follows Mobile Magazine's conversation with Amdocs’ CMO Gil Rosen at Mobile World Congress in 2023, where he discussed the future of the metaverse and the company’s announcement of a partnership with Microsoft.

“The Amdocs Microsoft Collaboration allows us for the first time to do something which is integrated, which is very specific, and is aimed at the telecom vertical. So, together with Microsoft, we have pre-integrated our products to provide a seamless end-to-end experience and we believe this can bring profound value to our customers," he said.

Amdocs and NVIDIA collaborate in driving Gen AI innovation

Anthony Goonetilleke, Group President of Technology and Head of Strategy at Amdocs, shared that these achievements are not just milestones, but are critical in reshaping the telecommunications landscape.

“Collaborating with NVIDIA supports our advanced LLM routing capabilities, ensuring that Gen AI tasks are matched with the ‘best fit’ LLM and improving outcomes as a result,” he said. “Our work speaks to our goal of proving the business value of Gen AI, including driving down costs, improving accuracy of results, and delivering tangible benefits to service providers and their customers.”

Meanwhile, Chris Penrose, Global Head of Telco Business Development at NVIDIA, said that this collaboration was helping to transform how the telecom industry operates, paving the way for a more connected and intelligent future.

“By combining Amdocs’ Gen AI platform and telecommunications industry expertise with NVIDIA’s full-stack AI foundry service including NVIDIA NIM, we are enabling meaningful scale of Gen AI in telcos, accelerating time to value, and driving positive return on investment.”

NVIDIA is also working with Lockheed Martin to build an AI-driven digital twin of planet Earth, arming the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with an efficient, centralised approach to monitoring current global environmental conditions – including extreme weather events.
