GSMA MWC Shanghai 2024 to explore and uplift the mobile ecosystem
The GSMA is a global organisation with a vision to unify the mobile ecosystem and develop positive business environments and societal change. The GSMA represents mobile operators and organisations across the mobile ecosystem and adjacent industries.
The GSMA is the force behind MWC Shanghai, which first ran in 2012. It is the same organisation behind the flagship MWC Barcelona event, which is held every year and first opened in 1987. Besides offering a wealth of information on the latest in mobile technology, the event also encourages collaboration across the sectors, including automotive, healthcare and finance, of which the impact of mobile technology has been huge.
This year, MWC Shanghai will take place under the umbrella of the Future First event theme. The agenda will be centred around the event’s three sub-themes:
- 5G & Beyond (the role of 5G as a catalyst for building intelligence at the network edge)
- AI Economy (the potential of Gen AI to bring a new level of interaction between people and computers)
- Manufacturing DX (the digital strategies driving increased factory efficiency and production performance).
Returning exhibitors and sponsors include China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, China Broadnet, AMD, CICT, Fraunhofer ISS, H3C, HONOR, Huawei, Lenovo, Metalenz, Qualcomm, Rohde & Schwarz, STMicroelectronics, XReal, ZTE and ZTT.
- Keynote 1: Future First with Open Gateway (26th June from 9:00-10:30am)
- Keynote 2: AI First (26th June from 12:00-1:00pm)
- Keynote 3: Innovation First (27th June from 10:00-11:00am)
John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd., shared that MWC Shanghai is a golden opportunity for innovators, creators, policymakers and business leaders from the connectivity ecosystem to drive positive change, showcase the latest products and services - and create unmissable experiences.
“We have some exciting days ahead of us and look forward to welcoming attendees, exhibitors and thought leaders, to experience the power of connection across the five halls at the SNIEC,” he said.
Sihan Bo Chen, Head of Greater China at the GSMA, added that Shanghai is the perfect location for the event, as China is leading the world in 5G technology.
“China is the world’s largest 5G market, with 5G connections expected to reach 1bn by the end of the year,” she said. “Now China is laying the groundwork for 5G-Advanced. As our world moves towards digital everything, MWC Shanghai is at the frontier of cross-industry digital transformation, attracting players from all corners of the global connectivity ecosystem.”
