NTT DATA Revolutionises Mobile Connectivity in MEA
NTT DATA Middle East and Africa has started deploying its Low Earth Orbit (LEO)-based connectivity services for clients in retail, banking, mining and logistics. The goal is to build a mobile connectivity solution to advance network performance and create an improved client experience across the continent.
As a Tokyo-based IT service, NTT DATA helps businesses to modernise through its industry solutions and managed services.
Leveraging technology to drive business transformation at NTT Data
NTT DATA’s investment into LEO satellite services will more efficiently manage the disruptions caused by fibre cable breaks and power disruptions. This will ensure connections for businesses across the region that are stable and continuous.
Despite having offered satellite services for more than a decade, an integrated GEO-LEO solution with established fibre and wireless alternatives can create an enhanced performance for access to latency-sensitive applications and real-time services, like video conferencing.
Although the Middle East and Africa are adequately provided for by fibre and wireless communications technology, there has been a fresh call for satellite services due to the unique attributes of LEO technology.
NTT DATA’s LEO satellites provide clients with the connectivity foundations to succeed.
Greg Hatfield, Vice President of Infrastructure Solutions at NTT DATA shared how the company approach is to provide LEO-based connectivity solutions using industry specific full-stack architecture.
“This enables business transformation for our clients, as opposed to simply connecting their locations,” he said. “The enhanced attributes of LEO only reach their full potential when used in an integrated infrastructure and application ecosystem tailored to the requirements of the organisation. Our strategy has always been to use the breadth and depth of our expertise as NTT DATA to deliver more than just a different flavour of connectivity."
Hatfield added that he was excited to have already started the deployment of this transformative satellite technology to NTT’s clients.
“It aligns perfectly with our vision of leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive business transformation,” he continued. “More than that though, it provides a safeguard for our clients that ensures their businesses are appropriately connected at all times, helping them to compete and win."
NTT Data: Supporting connectivity everywhere
Prior to this, NTT Data and Schneider Electric have entered into a partnership, which aims to co-innovate a solution to combine Edge, Private 5G, IoT and modular data centres, to better enable connectivity anywhere.
Schneider Electric in particular has been keen to continue optimising AI within data centres, in order to get customers better connected. The joint offering introduces a unique solution to support the compute demands of gen AI applications that are deployed at the edge. It will combine NTT Data’s Edge as a Service, which includes fully managed Edge to Cloud, Private 5G and IoT capabilities, with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure.
The goal of both companies is to better support the demand of AI applications at the edge, allowing organisations to better upgrade their existing data centre infrastructure.
Together, they attended the NTT DATA and Schneider Electric have been in attendance at MWC Barcelona 2024 to demonstrate how edge and private 5G are transforming industries.
