DTW-Ignite 2024: CSG’s Sean Casey on the Power of AI
DTW-Ignite 2024 recently took place in Copenhagen, aiming to bring industry leaders across the telecommunications sector to talk about the power of AI.
Hosted by TM Forum, the three-day conference confronted the opportunities and challenges associated with AI and how the technology can operate to advance industry growth, forge partnerships and advance software platforms.
At the event, Mobile Magazine spoke with Sean Casey, SVP of Product Management at CSG, in an exclusive interview about how plenty of AI trends are coming to the forefront of the telco sector.
“AI has been the big buzzword,” he notes in the video. “We’re starting to see some new and unique use cases here, with more customer engagement coming from AI."
CSG: Powering faster innovation for telcos
CSG is a multinational corporation that provides business support systems software and services, primarily to the telecommunications industry. It provides monetisation, mediation and CPQ assets across the telecom marketplace, in addition to offering products and services for customers that can be deployed via cloud or on-premises.
At DTW in particular, Sean explains that the company is interested in a broad range of AI-related trends, notably API monetisation and how CSG services can continue to focus on driving value creation.
“For us, it’s a very exciting opportunity for operators to open up their network, find new partners and really become the platform they’ve wanted to be for many years and drive innovation in the industry as a result of that,” he explains.
“Our job is to really help customers maximise that ‘quote-to-cash’ concept - both from a consumer-facing and business-facing aspect.”
Evolving to suit the needs of AI
The industry is changing to confront AI as an inevitability. As Sean mentions, operators are now focused on agility - with the “old ways” of business no longer being efficient. He refers to the increased popularity of cloud-native and SaaS technologies within companies who are looking to move quicker amid a changing digital landscape.
“Operators are coming to us and asking how we can support them and get them to market as quickly as possible,” he adds. “The old days of doing 12 to 18 month projects aren’t going to fly anymore.”
