iPhone 16: Apple Fans Ready for Faster Speeds & New Features

The collaboration we never knew we needed - an iPhone with a BlackBerry-style case
Ahead of the iPhone 16 launch, fans are already excited for the ultimate upgrade. Here’s what do we know about the iPhone 16 series

In September this year, iPhone fans will take their space in the queue outside of their local Apple store, to camp out for the latest model, the iPhone 16 series.

The new iPhone is expected to offer faster speeds compared to any previous iPhone - with faster charging, smoother browsing and clearer FaceTiming.

Here’s what we know so far.

Apple ready to dominate in September, from tech news social media

American multinational tech company Apple is headquartered in Cupertino, California, in Silicon Valley. It produces electronics, online services and computer software known globally. Apple outsources its manufacturing to companies like Foxconn and Inventec and had a 2023 revenue of US$383.29bn.

Apple always releases its flagship iPhones in September (unless it is actually avoiding the plague. The iPhone SE was released in March 2022 due to the impact of the pandemic).

September signals the back-to-school shopping season for many. While parents might be busier, this is usually a quieter period for the tech sector, allowing Apple to dominate the news and - perhaps more importantly - social media. Apple’s annual product cycle ensures that products are released before the Christmas holiday shopping period, maximising sales potential. This also gives Apple enough time to manufacture and distribute millions of devices worldwide before demand peaks around the holiday season. Apple is then able to showcase other products, such as Apple Watches and iPads.

Here’s what’s being reported:

Upgraded wifi chip

Rumour has it that there will be an upgraded wifi chip for both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro line of smartphones, with wifi 7 support. Wifi 7 offers faster connections and reduced latency.

Longer battery life

Most importantly for Apple users, battery life is expected to improve. iPhone 16 will use stacked battery technology, which will provide a larger battery capacity.

Display

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to be even bigger displays than the previous models.

Brightness

Claims suggest that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a display with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits (20% higher than the iPhone 15 Pro).

Bezels

A mobile phone bezel refers to the frame or border around the display screen. The upcoming iPhone 16 model is also expected to have thinner bezels.

The BlackBerry keyboard case is back with Clicks Technology

It’s been one year since Barbenheimer and the world has been digitally blessed with a new iconic duo.

After BlackBerry discontinued its keyboard phones in 2016, many customers have since struggled to fit in with the Apple crew or Android crowd.

Enter Clicks Technology, a company on a mission to create a line of products that enable creators to do more. Its BlackBerry-style iPhone case can do just that. The Clicks case is ‘clicked’ around the iPhone case and plugs into the dock connector. Once connected, it then gives users more access to their iPhone screen space, while being able to comfortably type on a bigger keyboard.

The real buttons make it quicker to write long documents and iOS keyboard shortcuts are unlocked, allowing users to scroll through webpages using the keyboard’s space bar.

Joseph Hofer, former BlackBerry Designer, credited the Clicks case for giving customers the freedom to choose.

“If you love visceral, analog interactions, enjoy seeing the whole picture by enlarging fullscreen and appreciate saving time with action-packed shortcuts, then Clicks is for you,” he said.
