What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of the cloud and 5G industry over the next decade?

The future of AI and Generative AI (Gen AI) in cloud and wireless networks will be shaped by the evolution into Agentic AI—AI systems capable of taking actions rather than merely making recommendations.

Over the past two decades, predictive AI revolutionized network management by enabling predictive maintenance, capacity forecasting, and enhanced customer experience insights. With the advent of generative AI, we’ve entered a second wave, where AI serves as an expert advisor, simplifying access to network diagrams, equipment specifications, and industry standards.

The next decade will usher in the third wave—Agentic AI—empowering AI to act as a peer to network engineers. These systems will go beyond advising to autonomously execute network engineering tasks, such as configuring equipment, optimizing resources, and troubleshooting issues. This shift promises to accelerate workflows, improve efficiency, and redefine how networks are designed and maintained, transforming the very foundation of cloud and wireless infrastructure management.
