The London Internet Exchange (LINX) appoints internet connectivity expert Jennifer Holmes as its new CEO, following an extensive global search

The London Internet Exchange (LINX) has appointed Jennifer Holmes as its new Chief Executive Officer.

An established figure within the organisation, Jennifer Holmes will replace current CEO Kurtis Lindqvist, who offered his resignation earlier in 2024. He will be moving to a new position as President and CEO of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a non-profit organisation based in Geneva.

An established career digitally connecting others

Jennifer initially joined LINX back in 2007 as a member of the sales team and soon progressed to leadership roles, including Sales Manager and Head of Sales. Soon after, she was promoted to Chief Commercial Officer in 2019 and was invited to join the LINX Board of Directors in 2023.

In addition to working with LINX for more than 17 years, she has also recently completed her Executive MBA with IMD which has further bolstered her wider business knowledge.

“The Board was unanimous in their choice for Jennifer. We appreciated her authenticity, her ability to connect to members, staff and the Board, and felt she provided the best possible leadership for LINX in the future,” says Pieter Knook, Chair of the LINX Board of Directors. 

“I am very much looking forward to working with Jennifer and I also wish to share my thanks and celebrate the great leadership that Kurtis has given LINX over the last five years.”

Jennifer has played an integral role in the growth of LINX membership from around 200 member networks community when she joined, to more than 980 global members to date. She remains extremely passionate about the role of LINX within the interconnectivity ecosystem, with the organisation eager to highlight her strong understanding of the needs of LINX members. 

As a result of her influence in recent years as Chief Commercial Officer, the LINX strategy has evolved to support the development of the products and services, whilst ensuring an effective pricing strategy is executed.

Jennifer Holmes comments: “I am truly honoured and proud to be taking over from Kurtis and step into this role, leading a company that has already achieved so much. This is an exciting chapter in LINX's history as we celebrate 30 years of business, with many opportunities for future growth.

LINX: Bolstering global interconnectivity 

LINX is a mutually-governed Internet exchange point (IXP) that provides peering services and public policy representation to network operators. First established in 1994 in London and owned by its members, it provides interconnection services across the UK, the US and Africa.

The organisation has changed the internet and connectivity landscape in the UK and remains invested in working for the good of the internet in Kenya as it rolls out its peering solutions and further interconnection services in the future.

Celebrating 30 years of pioneering interconnectivity in 2024, LINX continues to showcase how its engineering solutions have helped shape the evolution of the Internet. The organisation is eager to advance, whilst ensuring it meets the future needs of its members.

Jennifer adds via a LinkedIn post: “As I step into this new chapter, my focus will be to build on the strong foundations of community, collaboration and strategic vision that [Kurtis Lindqvist] has laid before me. I am committed to leading with purpose, fostering a culture of collaboration and consideration, and driving future success for our members.”
