Who is Swedish telecom company Telia’s new CFO Eric Hageman?
Following the announcement of Per Christian Mørland’s departure as CFO at Swedish telco Telia in March, Eric Hageman will take over the role in September.
Hageman replaces Mørland as he made the decision to leave Telia to spend more time with family in his native Norway.
With Hageman’s appointment, Tim Pennington - who was serving as Interim CFO - will revert to an advisory position in the company, Telia confirmed.
Telia Company President and CEO Allison Kirkby, who announced earlier this month that she was leaving the company to become the BT Group’s first female CEO, said: “Eric brings a wealth of experience from our sector and as a highly experienced Chief Financial Officer who has led businesses during periods of change and transformation.”
Who is Telia Company’s new CFO Eric Hageman?
“I am excited to join Telia, which has a unique position in the Nordics and Baltics. The positive impact from digitalisation for societies, public and private sector players, and consumers alike, have never been more important,” Hageman said of his appointment.
Although it may seem that Hageman is new to the mobile industry, he spent more than eight years working for Dutch landline and mobile telecommunications company Royal KPN NV in the formative years of his career. After nine years as an Investment Banker at Deutsche Bank & ABN Amro Bank, he joined Royal KPN NV in 2005 as Head of Investor Relations & Head of M&A before going to become CFO KPN Mobile International in 2008. While at the company he also served as CEO KPN Group Belgium and finally Group CFO and Member of Board of Management before his departure at the end of 2013.
From there he has served in CFO across a variety of companies and industries, namely at British gambling company William Hill, IWG, Chime Communications and TelecityGroup. He is also the founder of Delta Value.
He leaves his current interim role as Group CFO for the manufacturer of personal survival equipment - used when ejecting from aircraft or when at sea - Survitec Group for his position at Telia.
Hageman holds an MBA from the London Business School and an MSc in Business Economics from Maastricht University, and has completed two short courses at Harvard Business School.
