Our latest Trailblazer is Omar Tazi - the newly appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer of T-Mobile

During his two decade-long career at the forefront of the telecommunications industry, Omar Tazi has shaped the developments of almost all the world’s leading companies.

He has held key positions at Oracle, Orange and Deutsche Telekom, and has extensive experience in the 5G, IoT and AI spheres.

Deutsche Telekom CPO and serial telco Founder

Prior to taking on the Chief Product Officer role at T-Mobile, Tazi held the same position at Deutsche Telekom.

As the company’s Chief Product and Innovation Officer, Tazi managed the products of the group, alongside its device partnerships, and the overall customer experience quality.

Deutsche Telekom owns a 48.4% stake in T-Mobile’s American branch, making this career change a natural transition for both Tazi and T-Mobile.

Previously, Tazi was also the Chairman of hubraum, a division of Deutsche Telekom that is primarily focused on 5G, AI and IoT startups in their early stages of development.

A new position for T-Mobile

T-Mobile’s recent announcement of Tazi’s appointment came as a surprise to many, as the Chief Product Officer role is a relatively new one within T-Mobile.

Tazi, a former Member of the company’s Board of Directors, has rejoined the company to take on the new position.

The announcement was made by Tazi on January 3rd, via Twitter.
